The arboretum was open today until 8pm. Thanks to the message on Twitter, I was able to make plans to visit and take advantage of the extra time to get exercise and take photos. I finally signed up for Twitter last night, but that’s a whole different story.
The birds and bunnies were out tonight. I’m sure they are usually out at this time but since they close most days at 5pm, we don’t get to see them. There weren’t that many people visiting so it made my walk quite enjoyable. I was able to stop and take photos without having to wait for people to move.
The tulips are mostly gone but I found a few that still looked relatively fresh. It’s amazing how much I enjoy looking at flowers. Here are some photos from today.
The pelicans are gone for the year. There was one still at White Rock several days ago but I haven’t seen it this week. I’m sure they are all headed north until next winter. I’m going to miss them because I spent more time photographing them this year than ever before. The challenge was to capture them in various situations to make it more interesting. I took many more photos than I could possibly ever share so I picked a few of the most recent ones to post.
Now I have realized that I’m learning about many other birds such as the Blue-winged Teal, the Northern Shoveler, and the Pied Billed Grebe (I saw this one today.) While I’ll miss the pelicans, I have so much to learn about other birds in our area. So until next year…
The Wood Ducks have arrived at White Rock. They are such interesting ducks. I sat at the edge of the lake just watching them when I noticed them coming closer and closer until they were right in front of me. I just took photo after photo because they didn’t seem to mind me being right there. This is my favorite.
